Squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix may be treated, however, miscarriage is a potential negative outcome for such HPV conditions.
Pap smears are used for early detection of cervical dysplasia (pre-cancer,) which has no symptoms on the early stage. Atypical vaginal discharge, inter-period bleeding, bleeding during intercourse, and dyspareunia (painful intercourse) are observable signs that indicate a woman should seek medical attention.
