Carcinoma In Situ
When precancer conditions are detected early, carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma can be prevented by maintaining a routine Pap smear and a physician's exam for abnormal vaginal discharge.
Other risk factors are: early onset of sexual activity, low income, being an African American, Hispanic, or Native American woman, being a smoker, not having regular pap smears. When detected early, the pre-cancerous condition can be prevented and 100% curable.
