To confirm cancer cervix tissue may be taken via colposcopy and cone biopsy and sent to the laboratory.
Pelvic examinations, including PAP smear should be taken regularly to prevent atypical cells from developing further. To reduce the chances of getting this dangerous disease women should take avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use.

Precancers are completely curable when followed up properly and detected on an early stage. Women over 35, women who had multiple sexual partners or a history of HPV or genital warts, women taking oral contraceptives should have a Pap smear test more often than once a year.
