Cervical Cancer Mortality
The cervical cancer mortality rate has been greatly reduced through early detection and removal using cryosurgery, or a colposcopy.
The 5 years survival rates are: 80-85% for tumor limited to the cervix and uterus; 60-80% when the upper part of the vagina is involved; 30-50% for tumors beyond the cervix, but still in the pelvis; 14% when the tumor has spread beyond the pelvis.
The cervical cancer mortality rate has been greatly reduced through early detection and removal using cryosurgery, or a colposcopy.

Pelvic examinations, including PAP smear should be taken regularly. To reduce the chances of getting the disease women should take the following measures: avoid sexual activity before 18 years old, avoid promiscuous partners or use condoms, and discontinue any tobacco use.
