Bleeding Cervix
A bleeding cervix can occur following a pap smear, but is most common after a cone biopsy.
Birth control pills may cause spotting the first few months. In premenopausal women light spotting a couple of days before the period is common and not worrisome. Spotting of small amount of blood between periods or very heavy periods, lasting for weeks at a time may have different causes.

Irregular spotting is a possible symptom of menstrual dysfunction, fluctuating hormone level, vaginitis (a common and treatable infection), vulvar varicosities (dilation and irritation of the veins in vulva), cancer of the uterus, cervix, or vagina, some std, injury, complications from pregnancy, etc. A bleeding cervix can occur following a pap smear, but is most common after a cone biopsy.
